Garage Vecchio - Mellingen, Switzerland
A 3F Filippi “license plate” light exalts the cars of Garage Vecchio of Mellingen (Switzerland)
In the north of Switzerland there is a real paradise for fans of Italian cars. It is the Old Garage of Mellingen, a Swiss town in the canton of Aargau. Founded in 1970 by Franco Vecchio, the show features cars of almost all the Italian brands of the FCA Group: Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati and Ferrari. In addition to the new models of these brands, Garage Vecchio, which also includes commercial vehicles in its offer, is a delight for lovers of vintage cars. In recent months, the company has decided to display the cars inside the salon in a new light, so as to further enhance their aesthetics and increase their visual impact in the eyes of potential customers. To obtain these results, it has chosen to rely on the skills and technologies of 3F Filippi, which has long been the brand reference in the lighting of automotive structures, due to the numerous orders for the automotive industry (FCA and Lamborghini, to name a few), in addition to those for several Italian car showrooms. The lighting project provided a complete redistribution of the lighting fixtures within the sales area. For the new enhancement of cars, it was decided to integrate two 3F Filippi brand technologies: 3F Linux and 3F Emilio. Installed on the ceiling, the first is a modular system developed to compose light channels with maximum efficiency. In addition to being easy to assemble, 3F Linux stands out for its great installation flexibility (suspension or ceiling) and use, thanks to the different optics and light units that can be placed inside. In this case, the designer's choice fell on the DALI version, with transparent methacrylate lenses with a flat external surface, installed on the ceiling. The light of the system has been integrated with that of 3F Emilio, the spotlight for accent light designed by Serge and Robert Cornelissen for 3F Filippi. Adding practicality to high performance, it was the ideal technical solution in this relamping intervention, for more than one reason. In addition to providing high quality lighting, 3F Emilio guarantees an excellent thermal efficiency, with a consequent reduction in maintenance activities (a fundamental aspect inside the showroom, where the luminaires stay on for many hours a day). The particular rounded shape of the spotlight also facilitates cleaning operations, thus speeding up daily activities inside the car showroom. For both luminous fixtures was chosen a color temperature of 4000K. A few months after completion, the new lighting project has left the owners fully satisfied with the effect obtained on the environment and on the cars on display, as well as numerous positive comments received from customers.
