Maggiore Hospital - Bologna, Italy
The light of 3F Filippi for the new Intensive Care Unit of the Maggiore Hospital of Bologna
With the inauguration of 34 new intensive care beds at the Maggiore Hospital of Bologna, the opening phase of the new widespread Covid Hub has officially started, which will include the construction of homologous areas also in other provinces of Emilia-Romagna. In the regional capital, the new structure was built on the twelfth floor of the Bolognese hospital in a very short time, (only 40 days), given the exceptional demand for locations due to the current Coronavirus pandemic.
For the lighting of the new Intensive Care Unit and Critical Area of the ""Major"", 3F Filippi technologies were chosen for both transit and hospitalization areas. Given the delicate conditions of the patients housed in this special area of the hospital, and the complex activities carried out by the medical staff, the local health company wanted to adopt solutions with higher performance than that required by current legislation on lighting. The request of AUSL technicians and designers, in fact, was to request an illumination that went beyond the dictates established by UNI EN 12464-1, with, for example, 500 lux on the bed (at a color temperature of 4000K) during patient visit activities, instead of the 300 established by law. For this reason 3F Filippi has identified in the 3F Reno the most suitable device to meet these expectations.
The recessed spot entirely designed and built by the company from Pianoro (Bologna) was designed to add high performance to high visual comfort. Its particular scaled optic allows to drastically reduce the luminance values, creating a greater visual comfort compared to the competitors' homologous products. In addition, the use of a high efficiency heatsink, with small dimensions, favors installation even in limited built-in spaces.
Given the long periods of hospitalization of the patients, as well as the numerous hours of continuous work of the medical staff in the ward, the hospital company requested equipment with photobiological risk RG0 free. The lighting project involved the use of DALI dimmable products, so as to ""dose"" the lighting on bedridden patients, according to the various times of the day and the therapy activities carried out.
This new order has a particular meaning for 3F Filippi. With this supply, the company has confirmed itself as an excellent partner for hospital structures even in emergency phases such as the current one, which required maximum speed in the distribution of the devices necessary for the creation of the new department. Among other things, a contribution to the new construction was offered to the Ospedale Maggiore by Duralamp, a brand of the 3F Filippi Group | Targetti, which supplied several LED panels for general lighting of the different areas.
