For 3F Filippi, managing environmental impacts involves monitoring processes, using resources efficiently and setting measurable targets.
This approach encompasses various stages of the company’s operations: from product design to production, from energy and resource management to packaging, right through to waste recovery and product life-cycle analysis.
Performance is monitored using environmental indicators and within the framework of the environmental management system certified to the ISO 14001 standard.
In 2024 and 2025, 100 per cent of the electricity purchased by 3F Filippi was covered by Guarantees of Origin.
This supply is complemented by the photovoltaic system installed at the Via del Savena site, comprising 4,510 panels.
In 2025, the system generated 1,091,415 kWh of electricity, compared with 1,087,242 kWh generated in 2024. Part of the energy generated is consumed on-site at the plants, whilst the remainder is fed into the grid.
Energy efficiency
3F Filippi analyses the energy consumption of its plants to identify the areas with the highest energy intensity and plan efficiency measures.
In 2024, the insulation of the hot water distribution mains at the Via del Savena plant, together with the replacement of the heating plant completed in 2023, contributed to a saving of 38,479.7 m³ of natural gas.
In 2025, the work continued with the introduction of heat pump systems and improvements to the building envelopes aimed at reducing heat loss.
In its production processes, 3F Filippi recovers specific types of plastic waste, which are sorted, processed and reintroduced into the production cycle alongside virgin raw materials.
In 2025, 12,193 kg of plastic material from production waste was reused, compared with 12,000 kg in 2024.
The reused material accounts for just over 2 per cent of the plastic raw material used annually.
3F Filippi monitors the production and disposal of waste generated by its factories, prioritising recovery over disposal wherever possible.
In 2025, 95 per cent of the total waste sent for disposal was sent for recovery, whilst 5 per cent was sent for disposal.
Water use
3F Filippi monitors water consumption at its plants to identify any anomalies and opportunities to reduce waste.
In 2025, total water consumption at the Via del Savena and Via Garganelli sites amounted to 6,798 m³, compared with 7,183 m³ in 2024, representing a reduction of approximately 5.4%.
In 2025, 3F Filippi launched its first Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study on a selection of appliances from the 3F Linda range.
The analysis examines the environmental impacts associated with the various stages of the product life cycle, from the sourcing of raw materials through to end-of-life, with the aim of gathering information useful for the development of eco-design criteria.
The company’s objective is to progressively extend the LCA analysis to its main products, achieving coverage equivalent to 40 per cent of the previous year’s sales volumes by 31 December 2027.
3F Filippi is involved in packaging design with the aim of reducing material usage, optimising packaging solutions and improving recyclability.
The eco-design initiatives developed over the years have been submitted to CONAI’s eco-design calls for proposals, winning awards for their contribution to reducing the environmental impact of packaging.
Since 2023, 3F Filippi has been home to two apiaries in the green spaces of its factories, as part of the Bee The Change project.
There are a total of six hives, which, at the peak of the colonies’ growth, can house up to 360,000 bees.
The project involves regular monitoring of the hives and awareness-raising activities aimed at employees and their families on the role of pollinators and the protection of biodiversity.
