

Tomplast operates in the plastic components manufacturing sector, where every production process requires precision, controlled procedures and environments that fully comply with international standards.
To meet these requirements, the lighting design – developed by our partner Ediito – covered the entire production facility, including production departments, the metrology room, connecting corridors and operational offices. Each area serves a different purpose and requires specific lighting conditions, designed to support day-to-day activities and improve the quality of work.
The aim was not simply to illuminate the spaces, but to create a system capable of supporting the entire production process, providing operators with optimal visual conditions throughout all stages of production and contributing to the quality control of the final product.

The lighting design for a production facility requires an extremely rigorous approach.
Production, quality control and measurement activities require different illuminance levels, high light uniformity and effective glare control, in order to reduce visual fatigue and ensure maximum operational precision.
In the case of Tomplast, the metrology room was one of the most critical areas of the entire project. Here, it was necessary to ensure over 1,000 lux, uniformly distributed, to enable extremely accurate dimensional checks and quality controls.
At the same time, the production areas also had to ensure high surface legibility, whilst corridors and connecting routes required efficient light distribution to ensure safety and operational continuity.

The project was developed by Matic Rodič, who, drawing on his expertise in lighting design, selected the most suitable solution for each area based on the activities carried out there and the architectural features of the facility.
For the production areas, 3F Rover was chosen – an LED luminaire designed for industrial environments, featuring an aluminium housing, high heat dissipation, IP65 protection rating and a lifespan of up to 100,000 hours (L80/B10).
Thanks to the dedicated 3F Lens optics, it was possible to achieve excellent luminous uniformity even with installations at a height of around ten metres, whilst maintaining effective glare control.
The metrology room was fitted with P 200, capable of delivering illuminance levels in excess of 1,000 lux, ensuring ideal conditions for high-precision measurement activities.
Finally, for corridors and walkways, 3F Reno was chosen, fitted with an elliptical lens that distributes light along the passageways, improving wayfinding, safety and visual comfort.
This tailored design has made it possible to create a lighting system perfectly calibrated to the plant’s actual operational requirements.

Each area has been lit in accordance with the actual activities carried out there. The combination of dedicated light distributions, calibrated illuminance levels and glare control enables operators to work with greater precision, improving visual comfort, safety and the reliability of production processes.
The quality of the light facilitates the monitoring of production processes, improves the perception of details and reduces visual fatigue during long shifts. This enables operators to carry out their tasks with greater accuracy and consistency, contributing directly to maintaining the high quality standards required by the sector.
The result is an environment in which light becomes an integral part of the production process and the quality of the final product.

The integration of lighting calculations, specialist products and high-efficiency LED technology has made it possible to create a system capable of meeting the high standards required.
The selection of dedicated luminaires for each area has optimised performance, energy consumption and maintenance, ensuring long-term reliability and reducing the overall running costs of the system.
This project demonstrates how a targeted lighting design can make a tangible contribution to the company’s competitiveness, improving production quality, staff wellbeing and the sustainability of the facility.
